What This Wash Looks Like

What Power Washing Includes

Concrete driveways, walkways, and patios. Paver and stone surfaces. Wood and composite decks. Vinyl, fiber cement, and painted wood siding. Every job includes the right pressure, the right tip, the correct detergent for the surface, and protection for the plants and fixtures nearby. The scope names each surface and the approach.

Pressure Matched to Surface

Concrete takes higher pressure than wood. Painted surfaces take less than either. Vinyl siding gets soft washed with detergent, never blasted with a high-pressure tip that drives water behind the panels. The correct pressure and the correct tip are chosen per surface, not set once and dragged everywhere on the property.

Pre-Treating Algae and Moss

Green algae, black mildew, and moss are biological growth, not just dirt. Pressure alone removes them for a season, and they come back. A pre-treatment solution kills the growth at the surface so the same wash lasts far longer. The solution and dwell time are named in the written scope.

Protecting Plants and Fixtures

Landscaping, outlets, exterior lights, and hose bibs all get covered or wet down before any solution goes on. Windows get closed and checked from inside. Wet plants take up less detergent than dry ones, so the pre-wet step matters. Anything that shouldn't get sprayed gets protected before the wand starts.

Concrete vs Wood vs Vinyl

Concrete driveways get a surface cleaner attachment, so no striping is left behind. Wood decks get a gentler approach with the grain, then a rinse. Vinyl siding gets soft washed from top to bottom. Paver joints get protected during cleaning, with joint sand replaced where it washed out. Each surface has its own procedure.

Written Scope by Surface

The estimate names each surface, the pressure setting, the tip, the detergent, and any pre-treatment. That way nothing gets rushed and the crew knows what to do at every part of the property. Winter road salt removal is called out separately for driveways and walkways, before the salt keeps eating concrete.

Why It Matters

Benefits of Professional Power Washing

Pressure alone is not power washing. The pressure, the tip, the detergent, and the sequence all decide whether the surface comes out clean or damaged. Seven things separate the two.

No Striping on Concrete

Surface cleaner used on all flat concrete, so no striping or wand marks are left behind.

Algae Pre-Treated

Algae and moss pre-treated with solution, so the green does not return in the same season.

Vinyl Soft-Washed

Vinyl and painted siding soft washed with detergent, never blasted with a high-pressure tip.

Pavers Protected

Paver joints protected during cleaning, with joint sand replaced where it washed out.

Plants Covered First

Plants, fixtures, and outlets covered or wet down before any solution goes on the surface.

Written Per Surface

Pressure, tip, and detergent for each surface all named in the written estimate.

Bring the drawings, the photos, or just the problem. A written estimate costs nothing and gives you real numbers to plan the whole project around.

FAQ

Power Washing FAQs

Q1

What does power washing service include?

Power washing covers concrete driveways, walkways, and patios; paver surfaces; wood and composite decks; and vinyl, fiber cement, and painted siding. Every job includes matched pressure, the correct tip, appropriate detergent, and plant and fixture protection. The written estimate names each surface and the approach.

Q2

How much does power washing cost in Connecticut?

Cost depends on the square footage, the surface type, how much pre-treatment is needed for algae or moss, and whether winter salt removal is part of the job. A single driveway and a full-house exterior sit at very different prices. A & C does not quote washing over the phone.

Q3

Do I need a permit for power washing in Connecticut?

No, power washing is exterior cleaning and does not require a building permit. Some towns have water use restrictions during drought advisories, which are followed during scheduling.

Q4

How long does power washing take in Connecticut?

A single driveway runs a few hours. A full-house exterior including siding, deck, and hardscape typically runs a full day. Larger properties may split across two visits. Every job includes pre-treatment dwell time built into the schedule.

Q5

Is A & C General Construction insured?

Yes. A & C General Construction LLC carries full insurance on every power washing project across Connecticut. Every scope also includes a free written estimate before the pressure hose comes off the truck, with each surface, pressure setting, and a real start date listed.
